| How is it made? | Machine-made Washi paper is twisted into "Koyori" (paper strings) and woven just like natural rush grass. |
| What about mold? | While not 100% mold-proof, Washi paper significantly inhibits mold growth compared to natural rush. |
| Does the color change? | Hardly changes at all. |
| Durability? | It is highly resistant to peeling or fraying. Durability is said to be three times that of natural rush. |
| Disadvantages? | It lacks the natural scent of rush grass. Also, because the color doesn't change, dirt might become slightly more noticeable over time. |
