Washi surfaces by Daiken are made from Japanese paper twisted into cord, coated with resin and woven. They resist mould, fading and stains, and come in many colours.

Price per made-to-measure mat in Japanese yen. Exports are free of Japanese consumption tax. Export packing and freight are quoted separately.
Ginpaku
The classic washi surface, with a natural rush-like weave.
Seiryu
A finer weave than Ginpaku, with the widest choice of colours.
Cocktail Fit
Two colours woven together for a soft, blended tone.
Seiryu Stripe
Two colours woven as stripes. Needs a mat thickness of 50 mm or more.
Sazanami
A rippled weave in soft colours.
Ayanami
A twill weave with a subtle diagonal texture.
Honami
A wave-like weave that catches the light.
Ichimatsu
A checkerboard weave that shows a pattern when mats are laid in alternate directions.
Chura
A premium washi with its own distinctive weave. Needs a mat thickness of 50 mm or more.
About this core
Fiberboard & foam core. Our standard core: wood fiberboard with a foam layer. Light, stable and accepted by every country we ship to.
Mat thickness 20–60 mm at the listed price. For very thin mats of 13 mm or 15 mm we use the Zetron foam core, at JPY 13,000 extra per mat.
Good to know
- Every mat is made to your measurements, in 1 mm steps. Each mat in a room can be a different size.
- The price includes the border cloth (heri). Choose a pattern from our border collection.
- Seiryu Stripe and Chura need a mat thickness of 50 mm or more.
- Production takes 3–4 weeks, depending on how busy our workshop is. Sea freight adds 6–8 weeks to the port; air courier about 1 week.
- We prepare export packing and the documents for customs and trade agreements.
